Derived from cannabis, CBD oil is having a bit of a moment right now.
As well as being sold at Boots, it's also being added to croissants in cafes and now also apparently, to moisturisers and lip balms.
Holland and Barrett have just started selling a brand new cosmetic range in which every single product contains CBD oil.
Apparently helping with anxiety, insomnia, muscle and joint pain, there's six new items up for sale at the health store, which have been created by Essex-based brand Eos Scientific.
Included in the range is a CBD oil lip balm, body wash, facial moisturiser, body oil, foot moisturiser and muscle balm, with prices starting at £6.99 for a lip balm – a lot cheaper than Boots' bottles of the oil itself, which cost up to £69.99.
As for the body wash, that will set you back £7.99 for 100ml , with every single one of the range's products containing 50mg of CBD.
Seeing as the lip balm only weighs 15g but still contains the same 50mg of CBD, there's a much higher concentration of CBD in the lip balm than there is in a 100ml bottle of body oil, although you'll likely get through both products at around the same rate.
Last week, the oils came under threat by the EU after the Food Standard’s Agency branded them ‘novel foods’.
CBD is one of 104 chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant and, despite being related to THC, contains none of the psychoactive properties.
Yet, despite this, CBD is moving beyond ingestible goods and breaking into the cosmetics industry. Holland & Barrett has recently started stocking Eos Scientific’s Ambience cosmetics range both in store and online.
