Teen cancer patient Kylee Dixon undergoes successful surgery, report says – OregonLive

A Wilsonville teen whose cancer battle became a flashpoint over a parent’s right to refuse established medical advice has been released from the hospital after undergoing surgery.

Kylee Dixon, 13, is now cancer-free, according to KPTV. Her case became an emblem of the debate when her mother was accused of defying a court order to deliver Kylee to state care in order to prevent her from getting a surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.

Last summer, Christina Dixon was charged with two counts of custodial interference and two of criminal mistreatment. Dixon and her daughter had previously been on the run for several days and were found in a Las Vegas hotel.

Kylee was then turned over to state custody and has since then been living with a foster family.

She had maintained that she didn’t want surgery but said earlier this month she was ready.

Christina Dixon has previously claimed the CBD oil she gave her daughter shrunk the cancerous tumor by 90%. Doctors have not publicly verified that claim.

A previously issued no contact order says Christina Dixon is not allowed to interfere with her daughter’s medical treatment or plan, among other rules.

Her mother claims authorities won’t provide her updates about her daughter, according to KPTV. Authorities dispute that claim, saying Christina Dixon has been provided regular updates.

Christina Dixon’s criminal case remains open.
